Below are a few of the “paper bullets” produced by Lucy Schwob (Claude Cahun) and Suzanne Malherbe (Marcel Moore). The German originals can be found in the Jersey Heritage Archive among their remaining papers. I believe that these documents are (largely, and perhaps entirely) reconstructions the two women made after the war and are not surviving items from the war period itself. The notes, messages, flyers, etc. confiscated by the Germans were entered into evidence during their court martial and, very likely, did not survive. Their house was looted by the Germans, and everything was taken or destroyed. Lucy herself believed that the soldiers used their papers to light fires in the fireplace. In a handwritten remark on one of the documents in the Jersey archive, Suzanne says that on this copy of the note, she was trying to recall the exact wording and had gotten as close as she could remember.

Workers! Fellow Soldiers! Comrades! Do not wait until the flames of hell have burnt our houses to ashes! Slow down your machines... Tamper with them in a clandestine manner... PUT a STOP to them... if you want to put a stop to the war!

 SINISTER LAUGHTER

- Why has von Kluge left the eastern front?

- That's easy! He fears the bolsheviks.

- But you have left it, too. Is it for this reason?

- Me? Why should I fear the bolsheviks? I have done nothing to them. But the Americans have better food and the American movies are great.

- So, have we lost the war?

- Certainly.

- But you are happy about it?

- Most certainly.

- I don't understand that. Why?

- Because I do not wish to squander my entire life in uniform!

Thus spoke the Nameless Soldier

Thus spoke Zarathustra!

Fool! One asks of you just a small thing!

That you should die, so that the Führer may live a little longer!

SINISTER LAUGHTER

- Alas! I rather wish I were captured!

- If you surrender, then you will be shot dead by the officer.

- Let him come then! With such an officer, I will be first to shoot!

Winter 1944, welcome distraction from Stalingrad, under the command of the "hero" Rommel, the African Corps advanced all the way to the Egyptian border, where it was defeated by Englishmen (Montgomery) and Americans (?), like before in Dunkirk (in any case at the English coast). Successful German troops!

Where will they be tomorrow?

that is what all our comrades

Next week the Nameless Soldiers

The Americans are coming!

Lincoln said to his people: "Every human being, whatever his language, his ancestry, his class may be, has the equal and unalienable right to pursue his happiness in freedom of thought and conscience.... and did so in the 18th century. What Lincoln demanded for the American nation then, is what the Americans demand for all the peoples of the world today. We are still nowhere near it, but it will happen one of these days.

The Nameless Soldier

HITLER leads us

HITLER leads us...

GOEBBELS speaks for us...

GOERING gorges himself for us...

HIMMLER? ... Himmler murders for us...

 But nobody dies for us!

In December 1932 Hitler said:

"When a government leads the country to its downfall, outrage is not only the right but also the obligation of every citizen." He also said: Horror without end .... or end with horror...

In August 1939 Hitler said:; "I was a soldier, and I vow that never again will a German soldier endure what I endured in Verdun."

In December 1932 he said: "When a government leads the country to its downfall, outrage is not only the right but also the "obligation of every citizen!"

He also said: Horror without end .... Or end with horror?

In August 1939 he said: "I was a soldier, and I vow that never again will a German soldier endure what I endured in Verdun."

What will he say tomorrow?

But the Nameless Soldiers say

Down with Hitler!

 Alarm! Alarm!! ALARM!!!

-Why?

- Because our masters the officers - afraid

of being captured here like in Stalingrad, like in Tunis -

 count on your corpse

 to protect their aerial escape.

Alarm! ALARM!!

- Why?

- Because the British, the Americans, the

Canadians [...] will go ashore at Dunkirk, Cherburg, at St.

Nazaire, while their

Overpowering military marine ...

Alarm! ALARM!!

- You endure ENDLESS war games, times of need,

you worry deeply about your loved ones.

- For what purpose?

So that you don't have time to THINK AND REFLECT!

Alarm! ALARM!! ALARM!!!

- Why???

The phantom: "Because they want to

mislead you, like they misled us in 1914-1918.
